Proud to Join ANIS: Building a Stronger Tech Community

Here’s a closer look at what ANIS does, why this partnership matters to us, and how we hope to contribute to Romania’s tech community.

Romania's IT&C Industry

Romania has quietly become one of Europe's most dynamic technology hubs. From Bucharest to Cluj-Napoca, Iași, and Timișoara, the Romanian IT sector has grown into a powerhouse of software development, digital services, and product innovation, generating €24 billion in 2024 and accounting for roughly 8% of the country's total economic value added, according to a recent report by Implement Consulting Group for ANIS. Romanian developers, designers, and tech companies are recognized worldwide for their technical skill, creativity, and ability to deliver world-class digital products.

However, this fast growth brings its problems. The same report points out that Romania ranks last in the EU on innovation, according to the European Innovation Scoreboard 2025, and R&D investment sits at just 0.3% of GDP, among the lowest in the entire European Union. On top of that, the industry is dealing with a shortage of talent, constant pressure to keep up with trends like AI and UX design maturity, and a digital regulatory landscape that keeps shifting. It is at this point that an organized industry association plays a crucial role.

An organization such as ANIS provides the Romanian IT&C sector with a collective voice which can lobby for better regulations, back education and digital skills development and achieve a true sense of community among organizations that could be competing otherwise. In a fast-moving industry such as that of software and product development, collaboration is a competitive advantage for the whole nation. For this reason, we strongly believe in being a part of this movement.

Meet ANIS: The voice of Romania's tech industry

Founded in 1998, ANIS is the only employers' association representing the full spectrum of Romania's IT&C industry. With over 160 member companies representing roughly 66% of the country's IT industry turnover and 42% of its IT workforce, ANIS has built an impressive track record of nearly three decades supporting the growth of technology and innovation in Romania.

ANIS's mission rests on three core pillars that resonate deeply with our own values:

  • Advocacy - representing the interests of software and services companies, and promoting a stable, business-friendly environment along with a strong education system.
  • Education & Training - advancing digital skills through university partnerships, professional certifications, and specialized courses. Since 2007, ANIS has helped train and certify over 8,600 specialists and has distributed more than €410,000 in education grants between 2018 and 2024.
  • Community - connecting IT companies to strengthen the local tech ecosystem and build long-term partnerships.

As a member of Digital Europe and the Concordia Employers Confederation, ANIS also acts as a bridge between the Romanian tech industry and the broader European innovation landscape, championing transparency, integrity, and equal access to resources and education.

Why this partnership matters to us

Becoming a member of ANIS has a very important value to UXProject as a means of getting more involved in Romania’s tech scene. As a strategy and product decision partner, working on product design and UX/UI, we've seen firsthand, across more than a hundred projects, that good digital products rarely come down to technology alone. They must be based on solid understanding of users’ needs, have defined business objectives, and use thoughtful design. We are looking forward to applying this point of view in the environment of the ANIS community.

Our collaboration with ANIS is aimed at reinforcing the significance of product design and UX within the technology sector in Romania. Too often, those conversations focus on technology and budget while skipping the question of whether the product solves a validated problem. We look forward to providing our views on the impacts of design, case studies in practice, and demonstrate its importance as part of the process of product development rather than seeing it as the last element added.

We also see this as a chance to put years of hands-on experience to work outside our own projects. Our team has built training courses, run workshops, and developed research and validation methods we use daily with enterprise clients, and we'd like to bring that same rigor into the ANIS community. Whether through training, mentorship, or collaborative projects, we want to help other companies and rising talent get better at making validated product decisions.

Ultimately, this is about aligning ourselves with initiatives that create genuine value: projects that push innovation forward, that support Romania's growing reputation as a hub for digital talent, and that put people, both users and professionals, at the center of everything we build.

What's next?

As we officially step into our role as ANIS members, we're approaching this new chapter with genuine excitement and a lot of energy. This is just the beginning. We're looking forward to actively participating in ANIS events, contributing to working groups, and collaborating with fellow member companies on projects that push the boundaries of what digital products in Romania can achieve.

We're bringing our own experience to the table, but we're just as interested in learning from a community of people who've been building this industry for years.  We're ready to roll up our sleeves, share what we've learned in over 10 years, learn from an incredible community of tech leaders, and help shape the next chapter of Romania's IT&C growth story.

Here's to building a stronger, more innovative digital future for Romania, together with ANIS.
