Design System

A design system is a single source of truth for a product's user interface: a collection of reusable components, design tokens (colors, typography, spacing), usage guidelines, and code implementations that teams use to build consistent digital experiences at scale. It goes beyond a style guide or UI kit because it pairs every visual decision with documented rules and production-ready code.

The business case for a design system is speed and consistency. Teams stop redesigning the same button for the tenth time and stop shipping five slightly different modals. New products and features inherit accessibility, responsive behavior, and brand alignment by default. For organizations with multiple teams or products, a mature design system is often the difference between a coherent product family and a patchwork of disconnected interfaces.
